My Lovely Ghost KANA is a short manga ( 3 volumes) about a guy named Amano Daikichi who after losing his home and job stumbles upon an abandoned apartment building where resides the ghost of a girl (Kana) who can’t remember her past. And so it’s the story of their daily life ( despite the fact that she’s a ghost) . Also they hop on like rabbits.

My Lovely Ghost KANA didn’t get much the exposure it could have gotten however. At first people jumped on it because it was written by Tanaka Yukata, yknow , the same bloke who gave us Ai-Ren ( which, I still haven’t read past chapter 2 ) , but then they quickly lost interest because it apparently didn’t have the level of life drama they wanted it to have. meh. My Lovely Ghost KANA was very Slice-of-life, nothing more, nothing less. If slice-of-life isn’t your cup of tea, you should pass, but if like Slice-of-life, then it’s definitely worth your read.

oh, also, it’s mildly heart-warming/touching and might give you a fuzzy feeling or something. there’s some daww as Kana is adorable. This definitely could / should get a one episode OVA . I’d dig Hanazawa as Kana ( See what I did thar ?!).

So yeah, give it a try if you don’t mind slice-of-life, and the hopping like rabbit part.

Woo, once again I’m late to the party. I finally started reading Yankee-Kun to Megane-Chan. It’s probably a good thing that I was late because the first chapters are so-so.

Here’s the description if knew of this manga :

“The story starts with a seemingly unassuming class rep Adachi Hana who has taken an interest in the school’s known delinquent, Shinagawa Daichi. Just what is her reason for following Daichi and wanting him to go on the class field trip?”

I somehow concluded that this manga was about some diligent Class-rep-like girl who decided to reform the class delinquent to be a fitting member of society.

BOY was I wrong !

Turns out Megane-chan is a former delinquent and a quite strong and feared one at that. And that is why she felt a connection with Yankee-Kun. Also turns out that Megane- chan, against all stereotypes…is pretty retarded. And by retarded I mean…stupid…extremely stupid.

She sucks in class ( so much that she repeated once already ) , fails to present any kind of logic, is crude, selfish, thinks with her stomach and seems to have no redeeming quality.

Well no ok, to be fair, she does have a big heart and really want to help people out.

The story in the first 3 volumes thus follow the adventures of Yankee-Kun (Shinagawa Daichi) and Megane-Chan (Adachi Hana) trough their freshman years, and I suppose their getting accustomed to each other. Sadly, the first 2 vol are actually not that interesting.

   Things eventually get better when the 3rd gang member joins in, Chiba Seiya , the sweet , tall and shy classmate with the glare of death.

Chiba is the somewhat comic relief of the manga. He gets his own 2 chapter mini-arc in chapter 3 and 4, too suddenly be forgotten until chapter 19. Chiba suffers from frequent bullying due to his involuntary glare of death that makes him look like he picks up fight with anyone when in reality he’s pretty chicken.

Not long after that the 3 friends pass on the 2nd year and are joined by Himeji Rinka , Hana’s underclassman from her previous school who had a pretty strong entrance, and  while not as stupid as Hana, is almost as particular.

But the real deal begins when Hana decides to be candidate for student council… yeah… a bunch of delinquent in the student council. Crazy idea right ? …Until they actually get elected. 

  They are joined by their final (gang?) member : Izumi Gaku . The second best student after Chiba…who happens to also be a former Yankee.

Interestingly enough, He and Daichi become BEST buds from the get-go.

While the formula didn’t change much and it pretty much stayed the same manga with more characters, the fact that delinquents became Student council makes the manga 10 times better simply for the Irony.

It gets better, while on a “student council retreat” during the summer, they meet the former student council.

The former president is actually a pretty cool and laid back guy……until someone calls him the forbidden word “ Girl” and he instantly turns into a blood thirsty , hungry for battle , super vicious delinquent.

It is then explained that it’s almost a tradition in the school to have a student council composed of erm “strong” elements, for the school attracts “particular” students.

But while composed of delinquents, they are actually good people with big hearts, even if they can get pretty sidetracked at times…

Helping bullied students here and there, making geeks look more confident, etc.

There appears to be some sort of subplot with Hana, not being a simple girl ( or rather former delinquent), but the manga doesn’t dwelve too much into that so far. or rather , at least not what I read so far.

If you don’t read this manga yet and have some spare time, I highly recommend you start reading it.

We then go back to Shun and Raskmoon. Raskmoon wonders is she imagined things as the cosmos she felt is gone. She thus returns to her duty and is about to execute Shun when she’s hit by a feather.

She tries to retaliate , but HE stops her arrows like it’s nothing.

He , the one said to be the strongest of the bronze saint , Phoenix Ikki !

Ikki tells raskmoon that he however is not the strongest saint , that Shun is much stronger, but because of his pure heart , she is able to stand there before him.

Unimpressed, Raskmoon attack pheonix , who sends her back her arrow and promptly defeats her.

Ikki tells her that her arrow was already weakened by Shun , and thus her wound wouldn’t be fatal.

He then makes sure Shun wound’s isn’t fatal either , and leaves saying that there are still things he needs to take care of , and leaves Athena in the care of his brother.

When Shun wakes up , he finds Phoenix’s feather and knows his brother protected him.

On their side , Athena arrive at a giant lake, Hecate tells her that this is where she will meet Chronos , the god of time , the one said to be the father of Zeus .

Awesome , Ikki , FUCK YEAH !

As usual , Ikki makes random appearances and leaves as fast as he appeared. But that’s why we love him. Actually it’d probably feel awkward if he stayed for once. However I wonder what is this thing he still needs to do.

The last time he went to talk to Pandora , this time what could it be ? Maybe he went to see Artemis ? time will tell.

I am however wondering what is going to happen concerning our friends back in the 18th century and Saori, does that mean she’s going to go back in the past and be their Athena ? if true , does that mean it was always meant to be , and the circle is complete , everything that happens has happened and will happen again ? or will they this time break the chains of time ?

Can’t wait to see what Kurumada has in store for us.

The chapter begins as Callipso ask Raskmoon, captain of the commando unit to eliminate Saori as she feels she represent a danger for the 12 olympian gods enough as it is.

While on their way to Chronos , Shun expresses doubt concerning Hecate , but as to put his distrust aside as they are being followed by Raskmoon’s unit.

Shun stays behind to confront them and easily defeats them

Raskmoon then herself appear and deafeat Shun.

But as she is about to deal a fatal blow , she feels HIS comos

his fierce and burning cosmos

The Phoenix as returned !

Yes I know, late much and all, but I finally caught up ( or rather forced myself to) with Omamori Himari.

In the past 2 or 3 years that this manga’s been out, I tried at least 4 times to read it, but I could never make it past vol 1. Actually I had never even finished vol 1. But as the air date of the anime approaches ( not to mention that fantastic state if boredom I was in) I decided to once again force myself to read it.

Turns out as soon as shizuru appears the manga becomes instantly awesome. One of the major problem I had before was that the scan team had opted to use old English to represent the fact that Himari speaks in old Japanese. The old English was the greatest turn off and the plot was generally uninteresting to me : a classic case of girl who protects wimp, wimp wants to become stronger, childhood friend gets jealous, other girls add to harem, blah blah blah.

Tough once you get past that it’s a pretty fun read I must admit, basic humour but still enjoyable and basic Matra Milan fanservice. If you’ve read his other stuff, you should know what to expect.

My favourites characters so far are :

and,

-  Ageha ( 90% because she looks like Kallen).

Himari is ok , but I don’t fancy her that much , seeing as she’s the main character , she will obviously win by default, and I’ve grown tired of default winners.

The tea fairy is not too bad either , but clumsy maid moe is getting old.

oh and the childhood friend  is uh…there ( that says it all).

on the plot itself , well there’s not much to say. The story has not really advanced much. Only recently did the more than more likely  main (or major at least) antagonist appeared, but there is still a lot we don’t know about them , or about the other families , as it’s progressing slowly . we got glimpse of other people who might be future allies recently…maybe, I’m not really sure where the story is at in japan right now , but I get the feeling the anime will quickly cover the 5 published volumes and will have an open ending. with luck ( if the anime doesn’t suck too much) we’ll get a season 2 like Sekirei.

Anyway , now that I’ve finally caught up and I can say that I fairly enjoy it, I’ll be sure to pick up Yen press release. Here’s to hoping they don’t use old English.

Oh hey look , a new Saint Seiya post ~

Well after more than a year of Hiatus  , Saint Seiya The Next Dimension by Kurumada-Sensei returned to the Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine with 2 new chapters so far.

Part 13: "Izô And Ox"

The story begins after Dohko , Sion and Tenma return to the sanctuary where they are given a beating by the newly introduced Gold Saints Taurus Ox and Capricorn Izō for their reckless behaviour .

The new Saints both uses their signature moves  “Great Horn” and “Excalibur” .

After delivering the correctional beating , Ox and Izō start worrying about the fact that Hades already found a body to posses , yet Athena hasn’t shown any sign of having reincarnated yet.

Meanwhile Dohko , Sion and Tenma vows to become stronger and save Alone and Suikyō .

Ox and Izō then begging pondering about the mysterious Crateris Cloth and using it’s foretelling ability to locate Athena .

The chapter ends with a shift to the present ( 1990 , as in , when the last volume of Saint Seiya came out ) with the two familiar figures of Athena and Seiya .

Part 14: "Bracelet of flowers"

The chapter picks up where 13 left of  , with Saori attaching a bracelet of flower she’s made for an seemingly unconscious Seiya ( in a wheelchair) .

Shun then makes an appearance , and Saori explains that Seiya is in his current state because Hades curse keeps his sword into Seiya’s body , and keeps moving toward the Saint’s heart and as it is ,he will be dead in the next 3 days .

Saori then decides to go ask her sister Artemis for help  , Shun and her then teleport to Mt.Olympus .

Shun decides to wear his cloth should anything happen , but it turns out it went back to being his original Bronze Cloth . Athena explains that the Kamui’s born from the blood of a god transformed because their wearer elevated their cosmos to infinity and so to speak it was some sort of Illusion .

As they move forward , we shift back to 240 years in the past , where the Virgo Gold Saint Shijima tells Ox and Izō that he felt Athena’s Cosmos from a Distant future , coming closer to their time.

Well , It looks like Kurumada is keeping the fact that every generation of Saint posses perform the same attacks as their elders like The Lost Canvas , but he changed the Gold Saints .

Izô , Ox and Shijima take now the place ( canonically ) of El Cid , Aldebaran and Asmita respectively. Although not much as been seen from these new Saints of Kurumada , I can’t help but shake the feeling that Teshirogi’s are cooler .

But now the real important business : Seiya , Shun and Saori. It seems that Kurumada is somehow moving forward with his story while going backward. Well not quite  , But the current event lead to think we are approaching a Tenkai-Hen route , which won’t be so much like Tenkai-hen ( which Kurumada Rage!quit on ) , all the while retelling the story of the previous holy war. And it looks like time travel might be involved.

And now for the raging : WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT THE F**************************CK ! THE GOD CLOTHS ! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! ;_; . The God Cloths are no more ( in the meantime )  , what’s that Plot device that makes Peter losing his power on heroes almost good compared to this ? D: . I mean , C’mon , they are obviously on their way to go and fight gods now , what are they planning on doing with their broken Bronze Cloths ? not to mention Mu is like , dead , so no one to repair those. and No I don’t really count on Kiki….at all ! GAH , What’s this Kurumada , I don’t even !

But on a more serious note , yes , I am completely sad to see the God Cloths go , but I know ( and Hope actually ) that they will come back soon as I mentioned , they will fight Deities now , they won’t last long without those. I’m not sure why Shun is all “ oh yeah , I totally dig ma old and cracked cloth that I have done so many battle with , woooo “ , but then again , it’s Shun..=/

I also like how they just left Seiya there . Alone , with an invisible sword in his body . lawl.

They are still very low on stock as they are doing their inventory , so I’m kinda missing a lot of in-between volumes , such as :

• Otomen 1 ( see the weirdest thing is that i only realized that what I took was vol 2 when i reached home D: )
• Kurohime from vol 4 to 12
• Les goutes de dieu 1 and 2 .

They should be done with their inventory by next week , so hopefully when I go back to Montreal in 2 weeks, I will finally get to buy the rest of the kurohime. Resisting the temptation to go get the scans during these two weeks will very hard.

But anyway , I think i completly broke my spending record for a week-end this time , by spending nearl 300$CA on manga , and about 315 in figure/model/dvd and related goods. ……… sometimes , I amaze amyself , and … not in the good way D:

These holidays have been quite a good season for goodies acquiring , despite the lack of material in store .

I believe I spend about 700 CA$ in all that .

I finally started Kurohime after the recommendation of a friend. Can’t say this is the best manga I ever read . The art is ok , and the pace so far is enjoyable. because of the holiday period the bookstore was kinda short on stuff , so I expect to go back and get vol 4 to 12 in two weeks along with Aflame Inferno 2 and 3.

Haven’t finished reading everything yet , been slacking off quite a bit =/ .

For some reason i’m going all fanboy on this because Starks is definitely my favourite Espada and I know for sure I would have been totally disappointed if Baragan was to be Primera.

  As expected though , Halibel ends up on 3rd place , but that’s still good. Wonder if she’ll defeat Hitsugaya . But I know that too many fangirls(and fanboys) will go into deep rage if that ever happens =/

So Kyoraku is fighting against the strongest espada , I can’t say I really expect him to survive this fight…

…but then again , nobody dies in bleach

Also , it looks like we might finally be getting back at the Ichigo vs Ulquiorra fight . the Captain fights were starting to get long =/

That is about 700 manga  , yep , I am missing quite a lot of volumes , I did buy those , but they seem to have disappeared somewhere in the vortex ( that I have yet to locate ) in my room. like that Ah my goddess 23 , or Tsubasa reservoir Chronicles 12 and a few others. Seriously they just…disappears from my room , Hence the vortex theory.
