I'm not sure which group it was either, can't say I noticed or remember the nano at all even haha. Of course I usually don't mind creative translation, however when I have to concentrate to figure out wtf they are saying, it becomes less interesting. I never learned old English, so most of the time , I had to second guess what Himari was saying.
It would be awesome to see more Matra stuff translated . Sadly he's not as popular as the other big names :(
Yeah , manga to anime art transition doesn't always go well. In some case it improves it , in most it loses all the original charm. But yeah , Ill watch the first few ep to see what it gives.

Yenpress picked up Omamori Himari? I need to get out from under my rock.

"One of the major problem I had before was that the scan team had opted to use old English to represent the fact that Himari speaks in old Japanese"

I kind of laughed at their use of the old english, I didn't mind it though (though i can sympathize with disliking a translation method). I can't be sure if it was the same group, but another group opted to include Shizuku's idiosyncrasy (she ends her sentences with "nano"). More stuff like this shows how you can get creative with a translation.

"Matra Milan fanservice. If you’ve read his other stuff, you should know what to expect."

Well put. Someone better get around to translating his doujinshi one of these days.

"but I get the feeling the anime will quickly cover the 5 published volumes and will have an open ending. "

I imagine so as well. Im kind of worried about the art-design of the anime. I feel the characters don't look as "sharp" as they do in the manga.
But I probably will still watch it
